I dont live in texas, but i believe that your biggest concern would be summer heat. I would try moving it in the winter. I should also note that magnolia trees are known to be very difficult to transplant. Their rubbery roots do not hold the soil together well. If possible root prune a season before you try to move it, then dig the largest root ball that you can manage.
I have a small ann magnolia and I need to move it. does anyone know when the best time to move this tree would be for texas?
